In all cities where Uber is available, Uber is (technically) a 24 hour operation.
Uber’s App is never ‘turned off’. In other words, customers are always able to access the Uber App and order a ride – as long as vehicles are available in their area.
And, in most cities, because of Uber’s size and growing ubiquity, there are almost always Uber drivers on the road, no matter what time of day or night.
Is Uber Always Available, 24 hours, in all locations?
Yes. In all locations, the Uber App is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Uber App itself never shuts off — and there are no mandatory service restrictions or ‘no-service’ days– Uber drivers operate EVERY SINGLE DAY, including all major holidays (i.e., Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc).
So…I’ll always be able to request & receive an Uber vehicle?
In cities like New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC or Seattle, you can have little doubt that an Uber vehicle will always be nearby & available….anytime you need a ride.
However, in certain small towns (i.e., rural or exurban areas), there exists a slightly greater chance that an Uber vehicle will not always be immediately available — particularly in the middle of the night or in the early hours of the morning.
However — since Uber’s system incentivizes drivers to be available at all hours — there’s a reasonably good chance that you’ll find a vehicle ready & available for service 24/7 — even in remote or non-urban areas.
I’m a new rider. How do I request an Uber vehicle?
Once you’ve downloaded the Uber App on your smartphone, open the app & choose a pickup location.
You’ll see a ‘pin’ indicated on the map — which shows your current location. You can move the pin around, and choose your pickup location.
The app will give you an estimated time of arrival for the nearest Uber driver.
If you choose to submit a ride request, you’ll be matched with the closest Uber driver, who will begin driving towards your location. In most locations, you’ll have five minutes or less to cancel your request (otherwise, you may incur a fee).
